Reflections: Looking Forward

I am really looking forward to next semester and continuing with my portfolio and reading many new and interesting stories.  I am learning a lot about how to put stories together and editing them in a more detailed way.  I enjoy each week picking new stories to unfold and also reading the stories that other people chose to read and retell.

Looking forward, I hope to stay more ahead rather than finish the assignments the day it is due.  I want to work ahead and finish more of the extra credit assignments in order to finish the class in a timely manner.  I hope to meet every person in this class through their introduction and I hope everyone is able to meet me, as well.

One of my goals is to set aside more time each day to devote to this class for proofreading and extra credit.  Also, by setting aside time, I know I will always finish my assignments early so if there is a day that I cannot work on it due to other classes or work, I will not be stressed about finishing it before the grace period.

Instead of my bed, I might start finishing my assignments and readings at a table or a desk to be able to focus 100% on my readings and writings.   I want to spend more time at the library because I always get distracted working at my house.

These past 8 weeks, I have not completed the growth mindset extra credit assignments because I wasn’t for sure exactly what to do for them, but after reading a few, I know that they won’t be hard and they will help me in the long run.  I plan to do the growth mindset challenges almost every week and grow from those.

I have not completed the curation extra credit assignments either because of confusion and time, but I will look into completing those assignments, as well.  By putting more time and effort into the class now, that means when my other classes get very busy with tests, I can focus more on those when the time comes.

Reflections: Looking Back

Week 8 Reflections

The story I am particularly proud of is the one that I have been working on in my portfolio.  I think it is an interesting story that is also entertaining.  Another one of my favorites is the one about the rider and his horse.  I love reading other people’s stories, too because many times this will spark an idea in my head about something to write.

I have really enjoyed all the stories about mermaids, Alice in Wonderland, and the stories about Adam and Eve.  One that sticks out to me in particular is the story that someone wrote and they combined the story of Adam and Eve and Alice in Wonderland.  I loved that story and it really made me think about combining stories to make one big interesting and intertwined story.

I think this class is perfect for being completely online because we are all interacting completely through the blogs.  We are able to still meet our classmates and really get to know them because of the introductions to our blog pages.  I really enjoy reading those, learning more about the people in my class, and looking at all the pictures they post.

I typically work on this class daily.  I will wake up in the morning and do my daily assignment to get it done for the day.  I work on all my weekend homework on Sunday and block out a time after church to finish those assignments, too.  I have been doing this throughout the year and it seems to work pretty well.  I also try to get ahead but sometimes I can’t and I fall behind a little bit.  I like the grace period because I know that if for some reason I can’t complete the assignment by midnight, I always know I can wake up a little earlier and finish my assignments in the morning.

My favorite place to work on this class is at my house.  I know it’s not the best habit but I love working on homework in my bed.  I can read comfortably and I am not distracted when I’m laying in bed working on this class.  Sometimes I will go to the library when I really need to focus, but for the most part, I am either sitting at my desk in my room or in my bed comfortably reading all the stories.

I have not done any more of the growth mindset or the curation, but I think I am going to start doing more of those in the future weeks.  After reading over some of the growth mindsets for the extra credit comments, I realized that this is a cool thing to thing about and learn from.
